Spotify

Probably the biggest name in online music streaming, Spotify works on many devices, has over 75 million users globally and 30+ million tracks available.

It offers a free subscription, which has ads, and slightly less features such as offline playlists, or you can opt for the paid streaming service at $9.99 a month. Spotify works on desktops, tablets and Android or iOS mobiles.

DEEZER

Deezer is one of the older music streaming services, it’s been around since 2006. It’s a fully-fledged streaming service with more than 16 million users.

Similar to Spotify it offers two services paid and free, the free service has certain restrictions such as not being available offline, no access to “flow and mixes” (their personalised playlists) on mobile, as well as Ads.

Deezer will also set you back $9.99 a month for their paid service.

SOUNDCLOUD

It would be impossible to guess how many tracks are currently on SoundCloud, because of the services ease of uploading tracks. This is because the platform was originally launched for music sharing between artist.

Its popularity has grown and it has developed into a full music publishing tool for artists, with over 175 million listeners a month. SoundCloud now offers a paid service, SoundCloud Go, which offers extra commercial/top 40 tracks as well as their underground/independent tracks and offline listening.

APPLE MUSIC

Apple launched their music streaming service last year, Apple Music comes pre-installed on your iPhone/iPad, or iTunes on Mac/PC. The service has access to a library of 30 million songs as well as great integration with other apple products hardware and software.

Apple Music is currently only a paid for service and has no free option, although free trials are always advertised.

AMAZON PRIME MUSIC

In July 2015 Amazon launched their music service Prime Music, which is a streaming service bundled as part of their Prime membership, which includes their video streaming service and other features on their ecommerce store.

Amazon Prime Music is a more basic service compared to the likes of Spotify or Apple Music, with only around one million songs. But Amazon has plans to release a music streaming services to compete with these.

Google Play Music

Google Play Music has been around since 2011. Google offers similar services to the rest, with a free and paid subscription available.

Google also lets you upload 50,000 of your own songs, like their competitors the paid version is $9.99 a month and the free version has Ad breaks and fewer features.
